Zen plans to buy prestigious new HQ

21 December 2007: Zen Internet is excited to reveal its plans to accelerate expansion and create new employment opportunities with the purchase of a prestigious new HQ building early in 2008.

The move, which is dependent on the award of a grant from the North West Development Agency and subject to contract, will bring staff from its current three sites to a single location at Holiday House in Sandbrook Park, Rochdale.

Zen had been planning to relocate to Kingsway Business Park in 2010 but the company's rapid growth has produced the need to bring forward these plans.

The new site of Holiday House was constructed by the Co-op in 1995, the same year that Zen launched, and the Internet Service Provider (ISP) feels as passionately about creating new employment opportunities and bringing good fortune to Rochdale as the Co-operative founders did.

The ISP is demonstrating its commitment to remain in Rochdale, the town where it was founded, and is hopeful that the grant will be awarded to enable the move to go ahead.

Zen currently employs over 260 staff and the additional 150,000 sq ft of high quality office space at the new location provides a clear path for recruitment and continued growth of the company.

The building will include a data centre facility, extensive landscaping and car parking with easy access to the motorway networks.

Zen has seen impressive growth levels year on year, achieving an award winning reputation and consistently demonstrating a commitment to providing the Best ISP Service in the UK.

This year Zen has continued to scoop a number of prestigious awards, a highlight being the PC Pro Best Broadband ISP Award for the fourth successive year in early December.

Richard Tang, Founder and Managing Director of Zen Internet, commented:

"As Zen has grown, we have been forced to split our staff between three different buildings. This has been due to the lack of quality office space of a suitable size in the local area.
"We have now reached capacity at all three sites and have an immediate need for additional space to expand our business.
"The opportunity for us to buy Holiday House, and expand to over 1000 staff in one location, has come at a perfect time. The move would mark the beginning of a new era of success for Zen, securing the long-term future of our business and bringing prosperity to the local area.
"I very much hope we are able to realise this fantastic once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Notes for journalists: The existing Zen HQ building will be kept due to the extensive network infrastructure in the building but there are currently no plans to leave staff there other than a security presence.
