Visa Paralympic World Cup uses Zen broadband

Zen was pleased to provide broadband for the Visa Paralympic World Cup, offering connections which enabled media access to the internet throughout the event which ran from the 1st to the 7th May and included the sports of athletics, swimming, track cycling and wheelchair basketball.

The Manchester Marriott Hotel was the official event hotel and main media centre and the Zen Events Team provisioned the internet connection at this location. Four high speed Zen Office broadband connections were provided for the event altogether also covering the Manchester Aquatics Centre, Velodrome and Regional Arena.

The Visa Paralympic World Cup was created in 2005 and provides the world’s leading elite athletes with a disability an annual event, bridging the gap between the Paralympic Games which takes place every 4 years.  This year’s event delivered 16 world records broken and 21 Gold medals were gained by the Great British Team across the sports over the 7 day period. 

The event organisers (Fast Track Events Ltd) installed both wired and wireless connections at each venue and the media centre at the official event hotel using the Zen broadband connectivity.

Zen gets Gamers Online at Fundraising Event

Zen connected the LawLAN online gaming event from the 12th to the 14th May in Slough. This event which helps raise money for the local Sikh community centre, involved gaming enthusiasts gathering to show off their skills for a good cause. 

The new Zen 8000 Active package was used to power the event and gave the gamers higher speeds of up to 8Mbps.This was a massive boost to LawLAN, which actually began with a dial-up connection, but has become so well established with growing numbers of attendees, that connection speeds have increased over the years.
