What is Digital Voice?

Digital Voice is the new home phone service. As part of the Digital Voice rollout, by 2025 copper landlines will be replaced by voice over fibre broadband connections, providing future proof digital phone connectivity to UK households.

That means your telephone handset will be connected through your router rather than a socket in the wall.

Digital Voice enables HD call quality - and it's generally better for your budget, with highly competitive call rates available.

Calls are billed by the minute (with each call rounded up the nearest minute), helping you to manage your service more effectively.

General billing information

  • Charges are pence per minute (PPM) and include VAT.
  • Calls are billed by the minute (with each call rounded up the nearest minute).
  • For mobile tariffs please refer to these rates.
  • For other service numbers please refer to these rates.
How we calculate call charges

Calls are subject to a minimum length of one second and are rounded to the nearest minute (e.g. if a call lasts 25 seconds, it will be rounded up to one minute on your bill). If applicable, a call setup fee is added. Fixed fee calls have a fixed-cost element for part (or all) of the call (e.g. 5p for the first five minutes or 25p per call). For calls to service numbers beginning 084, 087, 09 and 118 the access and service charges are rounded up to the nearest minute. There is no setup fee for these calls.

Our International pricing structure splits all International destinations into five bands: A, B, C, D and E.

What does Digital Voice mean?

Digital Voice is the name of the new digital phone line service for UK households. Rather than running on traditional copper wires, Digital Voice operates on fibre broadband, connecting via your home's WiFi router.

Is Digital Voice available in my area?

Digital Voice is available to all full fibre and SOGEA households, providing high quality voice capability without the need for a phone line. You can check what type of broadband is available at your address here. All UK households are due to make the switch to Digital Voice by 2025.

How much does Digital Voice cost?

Digital voice is an additional £6 on your broadband bundle, offering a competitive 1,000 inclusive minutes for UK mobile or landline.

How can I get Digital Voice with Zen?

When you sign up for a new broadband package with Zen, we'll let you know if you can get Digital Voice too. If it's available at your address we can add the cost to your regular broadband payment.

How do I set up my Digital Voice?

Please follow your Digital Voice set up guide to set up your service. If you have any questions, please get in touch with our Technical Support Team who can help you with your set up by calling 01706 902001.

Will Digital Voice work with my alarm or care line?

Digital Voice is not designed to work with care lines or alarm lines. With the pending switch off of the PSTN network we suggest you speak to the provider of these services to confirm their plans for the move to IP.

It is important to do this because, if your alarm is not compatible, it may not work when you move to Digital Voice. Please let us know up to 2 days before your switch over day if your provider has told you that your equipment is not compatible. You should get in touch on 01706 902 001.
